
Anthony David Gonzalez was born on 27 February 1976 in Torrance, California. He grew up in southern California and was a student at Huntington Beach High School, where he was a top athlete on both the basketball and football teams. Gonzalez excelled in these games at the University of California. He was instrumental in guiding the football team to 1996 Aloha Bowl. There, Gonzalez set a record in the school for receiving nine receptions, and tied it. Gonzalez later led the basketball team to Sweet 16 in the NCAA basketball tournament a few months later. After graduating from high school, he entered the 1997 NFL Draft. The Kansas City Chiefs chose Gonzalez as their thirteenth overall pick. Gonzalez was with the Chiefs between 1997 and 2008. The Chiefs traded Gonzalez to the Atlanta Falcons. Gonzalez never caught less than 59 passes during Gonzalez's second NFL season.
